Hi, Musicjunky. The short answer is "Yes." Did you have a negative EMG and antibody tests?
You can also have a thymic tumor that causes MG-like symptoms and not have MG. Some people do have a thymic tumor and once it's removed the symptoms are gone. Do you have a tumor? Did your doctors run only the Acetylcholine antibodies? What about the MuSK antibodies? To answer your question from the other post, there are not really any vitamins that help to make MG better. Please ask any questions here. People are very supportive. I know that it's hard waiting to see if you have MG or not. Annie |

Thank you so much for your post. I had the binding, blocking and modulating acetylcholine receptor tests and all were negative. I also had a negative EMG. That said, my symptoms have only increased to be even more MG-like. I had a CT with and without contrast this morning. My speech was a disaster afterwards. I am hoping that it is a benign tumor that can be removed and I can return to normal. Your post was very helpful in keeping me positive and upbeat. I really appreciate it!!
Thanks, Angela |

Angela, Don't be overly positive!
![]() If they gave you iodine contrast and you have MG, it can make MG worse. Try to take it easy today and for the next couple of days. If you have MG it doesn't just get worse right after an activity (or a drug like iodine) but you can be worse for the next couple of days. If you get really weak, please go to the hospital. It doesn't matter if you have a diagnosis or not, if you have MG and it gets to the point of not being able to swallow, breathe or move well (generalized weakness), then you need to be in the ER. I hope you get answers soon. Bring up the MuSK test to your docs. Take care of yourself! Annie |

I had a thymic tumor and was seronegative with a negative EMG. Not all thymus tumors are related to MG, just as an FYI. It's usually thymomas that are related to MG, but there are other types of tumors such as teratomas, that don't seem to be.
