/QUOTE]There is an inverse relationship in the serum levels of T3 and CK in thyroid disease. In hypothyroid patients, with decrease in serum T3 there is a significant increase in CK. Therefore, the estimation of serum CK is considered valuable in screening for hypothyroid patients.[8] this should help you feel better about the CK values,,, I would talk to your dr about your Bili values being higher at 1.6...this is from your liver, do you drink? have you noticed a yellowing of your eyes or skin? Bili is bilirubin, leading to jaundice...just a thought |

Karen, thank you for the explanation. I will ask the dr about the bili values, it's been high for a couple months' worth of blood tests. And no, I don't drink alcohol & haven't noticed symptoms of jaundice. I'll see if someone here at the hospital can go thru the blood test results more thoroughly.
Thanks again to both of you. |

Seishin, Mrs. D. is right - they need to do specific CK test to determine if it's due to your heart, your muscles or brain/bowel/neoplasm.
A CK, or CPK, can be elevated in polymyositis. Again, there are just so many different possibilities that your docs need to determine WHY! Have they tested your thyroid while there? A high CK can mean myxedema too. I think there's a lot going on with you that needs to be figured out. You're in the right place for it and are finally getting good care. The important thing for you to do is to speak to your doctors. Some of the reasons for your test results being high "might" be serious, so they might need to do more tests. Please don't worry. I just don't think that us "guessing" at what could be going on is helpful. I'm so glad that you are with doctors who are listening and doing something! And that other ER doctor thought that you were fine by "looking" at you. Annie |

Your CK can shoot up just from bumping your elbow.
