This past Tuesday I went to a Physical Therapist to help me with bone spurs on the back of my heels. I asked him if he knows what Myasthenia Gravis is and he said he does so I thought alright I'll do the stretching exercises he instructed I should do. Last night I got up to walk to the other room and my ankle gave out on me on my left foot. Luckily I didn't fall. I don't know whether to stop the stretching or what I should do. These seem like simple stretches, but today I'm feeling miserable. Maybe I should just limit how many repetitions I do. He has me doing fifteen repetitions at four seconds each with five different stretches. I see him again Tuesday. He also used ultra sound on the back of my heels and my lower calves.

I don't know about the exercises, but I would like to comment on heel spurs. I had a bad case of them. My doctor wanted to do surgery. He said it would put me out of work for several months. I wasn't willing to do it, so I just kept on limping around. My feet got better without surgery. I don't even think about my heels any more. It has been 20 years since they bothered me.
I hope that yours get better too.

That's probably too many reps, especially if you are deconditioned in any way. I would suggest doing 5 reps of each, and once you stop feeling like a wrung out dishrag, add another rep or two. You could also break the exercises up into several shorter sessions through the day rather than doing them all at once.
Good luck! |

I forgot to mention that the therapist wants me to do these stretches twice a day.

Oh, then 15 reps of each is way too much! Go for 5 reps twice a day and see how that feels. If that's too much, try 3 reps and build from there.
Good luck! |
