Crazy The universe has spoken

I was supposed to be on a flight to Italy tonight. When we got to the Airberlin counter to check in for the flight, I was told that I needed a doctors statement that I was fit to fly. What???

Apparently, my husband had emailed to request a wheelchair and asked about the availability of oxygen on the flight. He got back an email saying that we could bring our own oxygen or fill out a request form for them to provide it. A doctors statement that I needed oxygen would have to be included.

My follow up Dr appointment went well and I was given the go ahead to travel so we thought nothing more about the email. The airline refused to let me board unless I had a statement that I did not need oxygen. Of course it is a holiday weekend and no one was able to give me that statement from the doctors office.

Needless to say, all the stress did exhaust me and I did start having breathing issues and more weakness. We are now trying to get a refund. My husband has booked us on a 4 night cruise on my birthday (5/30), so all is not lost.
My family was not too happy I had decided to go overseas, so they were relieved.
I guess it worked out the way it was supposed to, but WOW
