Hi. I have generalized MG and I'm taking mestinon, deflazacort and azathioprine. I noticed a rash in my skin, something like a boil, and I'm having sores in my tongue, besides some pain in my throat. Could all this be related to azathioprine?

Yes, the sores can be from the Azathioprine. My doctor prescribed a mouthwash that patients on other forms of chemo therapy use. It is a mixture of Nystatin, Benadryl and lidocaine. It works well and now that I have been on the Azathioprine for a while the sores have gone away. I also had the sores on my skin that you are describing - kind of like a cross between boils and hives - they have gone away now too...but I did go to the doctor several times before we got it under control.

I went to the doctor and I'm under observation. As I'm taking azathioprine for 3 months and the rash came only now, probably it's not a rection to the medicine. The sores are better and I'm using a new toothpaste. He saw too that I have signs of flu and now I'm taking care of all this. Thanks everyone for the advices.
