sorry to hear that ginny - you doing better?? Do you have MG?

Stellatum... I recently cut out bananas, just as this periodic weak spells were driving me nuts... it's strange, I don't feel like I have had as many episodes.. and a very strange thing is that my GI symptoms have resolved since cutting out bananas - what would that be about? I thought bananas are good for GI issues - like the BRAT diet.. wonder if that is a sign of anything? Hope you are well!

Well, bananas have potassium, and if weak spells are connected with potassium, then you should look into the possibility of hyperkalemic periodic paralysis. How do you do with other high-potassium foods, like winter squash, sweet potatoes, and potatoes? Something to read about, anyway. People with periodic paralysis also react to high-carb meals, but the reaction can be delayed. It's a very tricky diangosis.

I am going in for day four of a course of IVIg today because I've been having a flare-up that just won't subside on its own. I'm feeling a lot better already. I haven't gotten that much response to IVIg in the past, and it's such an ordeal--I have to trek into the infusion center and all--but I thought I should try it. So far so good, in spite of clogged lines, nurses who constantly wanted to bump up the infusion rate, an after-hours a valet who told me yesterday that my car "should be somewhere in the parking lot"...and a flat tire! That was yesterday. Today's got to be smoother (but you never know).

Thank you all for the information. I had my first episode of this the other night while getting ready for bed. I had to close my eyes because the room was spinning and my eyes kept darting back and forth. The next morning I was fine. Weird symptom... adding it to my list of symptoms.... hope all gets better.
