Hello,
My husband was diagnosed with MG about 8 years ago. Currently he is on mestinon, taking it 5x day. He is also taking an antianxiety med, along with some other things for issues that have recently shown up. My questions are this: Is it normal that he forgets things or that things get scrambled up for him? He will repeat the same questions over and over for days, even though I answer the exact same way. He forgets things constantly and is beginning to feel very frustrated with this. He remembers things from his childhood but last week, or even this morning, is iffy most days. Is this to be expected? He started this last year. Secondly, how likely is it that he will hit a point and not ever get any better? He has been told that he is probably the best he can expect to be physically, but we have read that he may have better times and worse times...not just continue to go downhill. (He is 32 years old) |

What anxiety med is he on? Anxiety meds can cause memory problems.
I'd also do research on the other meds he is taking. Topamax made me VERY forgetful. Gabapentin made my sister dumb as dirt. ![]() MG doesn't usually cause horrific memory problems. I do have a slight type of dementia which I feel, but cannot prove, is related to MG. I now have trouble remembering names and recognizing faces of people that I do not REGULARLY see. Anxiety meds can make MG worse.....other meds, too. Each MG journey is different -- this is why it is called the "snowflake" disorder. Some MGers improve, some worsen, some stay stable for years. Symptoms also vary widely from person to person.

When I took anti-anxiety medicine, I couldn't I couldn't remember much of anything. I was on clonezepam. I think it made my MG worse too.
