Default There's an App For That..........

I want to make everyone aware that The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America has an App for tracking MG symptoms called "myMG". It is available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. It requires a user name (email address) and password. My experience is on Android. There are 2 “surveys” that you can take: MG Quality of Life (15 questions) and MG Activities of Daily Life (8 questions). The first is about symptoms, the second is about daily activities. This is copied from Google Play (Apple’s is very similar):

The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc (MGFA) is pleased to announce the creation of “my MG,” an innovative mobile application (or “app”) that gives people who have Myasthenia Gravis (MG) a new tool that enables them to track their MG. “My MG” is a software application designed to run on Smartphones for use in daily life. Using the “myMG” app to record MG symptoms and other notes enables you to have a more informed dialogue with your doctors. Use the App to record your symptoms and how they affect your daily life. Record notes that you think may explain changes in your symptoms (change in meds; forgetting your meds; ran a marathon). The App will chart your results so you can see how your symptoms change their affect to your life over time. When you are ready to visit your doctor, use the MGFA website to print surveys recorded. “My MG” puts the MG Quality of Life and MG-Activities of Daily Life tools into the patient’s hand.

The Android version says for phones, but it will work on a tablet in portrait. Apple’s will work on phones and iPads. Keeping a log of symptoms has been suggested many times on this forum and this may help.

Personally I give the app somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. What’s amazing is that the MGFA myasthenia.org makes no mention of the app (not the app’s fault, but dumb to say the least). The MGFA website’s Login does not accept the user ID and password that I created in the app so the ability to print surveys recorded does not work. However, after finishing a survey there’s a message that says “synced with server”. OK, fine! Let me know if someone figures this out (Apple version?). I think a few more questions could be added to the surveys. To be honest, I’ve only used the app twice, but I may use it more as I begin yet another prednisone taper.

Smile

Jim, I laughed hysterically when I read your post! I want a better drug for MG, not an App! Maybe even a cleaner or man servant.

It might be useful for some people, but I don't want anymore "spying" on my life by HMOs or our government!!!

I hope you're doing okay. Aren't you glad that our winter isn't lasting until June this year?!

Annie, I'm doing ok, thanks. It's the warmer weather that made me decide to cut the pred once again. Hope all is well with you.

I know I don't post much, but I'm glad I can make at least one person smile! I agree with you about privacy issues. For what it's worth for anyone considering the app, I've not received any unsolicited emails or increase in spam.
