My husband's symptoms are getting worse.
Today for the first time his legs just gave out under him and he couldn't get up. He is currently taking both Mestinon 60mg and Prednisone 5mg four times a day. What really has us worried is that nothing makes a difference anymore. He is constantly exhausted. His eyes feel heavy but they don't droop the way they used to when this first started. he has absolutely zero energy and is also very depressed. He takes the medicine but feels no better even for a short while. He naps most of the day but wakes feeling just as tired as before. Could it be that he actually has something else? A lot of the posts say MG is hard to diagnose yet he was diagnosed on his first neuro visit. |

Rhod, Taking all of the prednisone in the morning may help with all the tiredness. Also, has your husband had his fasting glucose checked? Higher blood sugar is a side effect of prednisone. There is also the idea of adding either Imuran or Cellcept to the drug mix. These are immunosuppressants, but they take some time to kick in. There is also IVIg if you have good insurance. This kicks in a lot faster. For what it’s worth, I also had my legs give out a few times. Jim

Hi, Your husband is really on a very small amount of medication. There is lots of room for changes/increases. Jim is right about taking the pred in one early morning dose.
I would urge you to contact your doctor and report the issues. If you can’t get any action out of the doc, find a new one. It often takes a few tries to find a “good fit” as far as docs go. |
