Have any of you every received social security disability for your MG? I really want to keep working but I keep having flare ups that knock me on my butt for a couple of weeks. I'm missing so much work that I'm afraid I won't be able to keep working. If I do have to get disability - any tips for how to expedite the process?

There's no way to "expedite" the process as checks will not start coming for 6 mos after you stop working, even if you're approved immediately. I stopped working in November of 2001 and was approved in early March of 2002 (first try.) It sounds like you are very close to reaching that point. I also have flares every couple of weeks which last for a week to 2 weeks followed by a week of good days, then another flare. It would be impossible for me to work in any kind of daily job.
I wish you well. |
