Gumby posted some good info on pain in MG on the "Do all neuro's suck" thread. I thought I would raise the question in its own thread so we can start building up a cache of information for future MGers use.
So..... Do you have pain with your MG? Is it out and out pain, just aching, or what? Does it only come on when you are fatigued? Do you get muscle spasms or cramps with it? Speaking for myself, I do have muscle ache. I never get real pain, but I can get severe aching in my neck muscles when they are very fatigued. I never feel the aching unless my muscles are fatigued. While I get muscle cramps, I'm not convinced they are a product of the MG fatigue, although I have noticed that the muscle of one leg, which tends to collapse when very fatigued, will get very hard and achy when it is really fatigued. I know at that point to be wary of the "rubber leg" effect, and to have my cane handy. Hugs,

Lois, yes I get achy when fatigued. About every 2 to 3 hours I need to rest to get rid of this achy feeling. My neck muscles get weak and my head falls forward and then my neck hurts. My eyes get tired and weak and then ache after reading or being on the computer too long
![]() ![]() Oh, also my right calf muscle sometimes seems to ache. That might be due to my overuse of the treadmill at times. When I feel strong, usually after a nap and Mestinon, I try to exercise for about 30 minutes. I actually try to do this every day. I am trying to keep my muscles strong. Lois does this help? |

Yes, thanks, Cindy. I feel the more info we can post, the sooner we will build up our "wealth" of information, and the more beneficial we can be for ourselves, and others.
Hugs,

My elbows ache...I always think it is because my arm muscles are weak and somehow the weight of my arms puts strain on the tendons in my elbows. I don't really know. I also get achy legs when I am tired and my eyes hurt sometimes - mostly I don't have pain - just aches.

That's exactly the way mine is, Gabe. Just ache. If I'm walking and my legs get fatigued, I sometimes have to stop to "let the ache" run out of them. But the absolute worst is my neck.

ZE] Hi Lois, and everyone. It's me Lizzie, When I'm very weak, I am very achy. I need to find the recent study link that show that patients with MG do experience pain. It's a very good article. Sometimes, my legs feel like they want to explode from the aching. Ofcourse I do have Raynauds so it could be that too. Not sure. |

Cindy, my legs ache when fatigued. As do my arms and neck. And when the muscles of my throat start fatiguing, not only does my voice start to thin and "give out", but I will get a strong ache there.
Lizzie, thanks loads for that link. That is exactly the kind of thing we need to start posting so as to build up our 'library' of info. Why don't you post it on the useful sites for MG at the top of the forum page? Hugs,

Sorry, Lizzie, I just realized you were way ahead of me, and had already added to link to the useful sites.
