I am a newbie to MG and to this chat room.
My symptoms are largely occular. My eye muscles fatigue with eye movements, which leads to blurry vision and double vision. I use computers a lot at work which seems to be part of life these days. It has made work difficult. I have a hard time keeping up with my workload and by the end of the day I am too fatigued to do much of anything. I have just started taking Mestinon, which helps (my neurologist calls it "anti-Kryptonite"). Other than slowing down and rest breaks, does anybody have any advise to make computer work easier? |

My symptoms started about a year and a half ago. I was just diagnosed a week ago. Still trying to cope with this.
I was wondering if speech to text and text to speech software would make it easier, like Dragon Naturalspeak. Does anybody have any experience with it? So for, the only thing that seems to help is taking my time, trying to type without looking at the keyboard and not looking at the screen when things are moving. |

Hey there! My neuro suggested icing down my eyes to help with fatigue. It really helps! Also, if you can, give yourself 20 min. breaks to just rest your eyes! Hope this helps! ERin

Hi ctulin,
Something you might want to try is a coloured foil to place infront of your comuter screen, or changing your screen brightness ratio. The light from the screen can fatigue your eyes faster than normal work. I had a student last year who didn't suffer from MG, but she would use coloured foils on the computer and over pages on her reading books. The lower contrast allowed her to relax her eye muscles and focus on what whe was reading. I'm not sure where you could purchase one, but if you are interested I'll find out where the school bought them. Hope this helps! I's certainly no fun when you MG affects your work! ~Kathy |

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will try them. I have also changed the height of my monitor and chair to reduce movements.
