Hi, I went to the clinic and the doctor decided to do an ENG or EMG, uncertain which word to use. I had to come back today to do it. He said it would be a good idea to make certain this is MG since I am there. The procedure was done around my eye. It was incredibly painful. I think there were 3-4 needles. He had another doctor insert the needles. He had to keep moving them around and deeper, which was excrutiating. I never screamed or cried, but Did wimper alot. The doctor at the clinic said he will call me tomorrow to let me know. The doctor at this clinic in GA, was very patient and attentive to me. He spent about an hour and a half talking to me and getting my neurological history. I will let you guys know how my test came out. My last neuro did say I had MG from a repetitive nerve test on my wrist but it will be better to know for sure. Anybody else had this eye muscle test done?

YEOW! I've had the actual needle test, but not on my face! I'm afraid I would've done more than whimper!
At least you've got that under your belt now! Can't wait to hear what they tell you. Gentle hugs and kisses! Quote:

Yikes, in the face?! My single fiber EMG was done in my forearm. Having it in the face must have cause such pain. It sounds like the appointment itself may have been very productive.

Ouch!! I can't remember if I had needles in my face, but did have an EMG on my face, and I cried, just silent tears, and the tech had to keep wiping my tears, so not to cause more pain...didn't seem to help..those hurt!!! I had mine done out at the Cleveland Clinic.
I for some reason didn't see this post. My Neuro has a once a month thing where the MDA comes in, and asks if you need anything, is there anything they can do for you...etc. But my very first appointment with them, was well over three hours as well. I felt like there was nothing left to tell, and nothing left to examine by the time they were done with me. To say they were thorough would be putting it mildly!!! I love the MDA they have been great! Best of Wishes Love Lizzie |

Lizzie, when I had my EMG done, it was one whole side, from the leg to the arm to the face....electrical shocks on the side of my face from the forehead around the ear to the jaw, about did me in!...very painful cuz it's repetitive & seemed to take forever 'til it finally quit...wouldn't want to go thru that again....then the needle in the forearm, which I didn't mind at all...too bad it can't all go that way...& it's good that we don't remember too much of it afterwards....

You know, it would be nice if we could forget about the pain after an EMG. I've had so many of them, that truthfully, I can't remember the when and where about them. Long before I was diagnosed with MG, I had to have several before and after back surgery from a spinal cord injury.
I don't care to have anymore . Love Lizzie |

Lizzy,
My supposed spinal cord compression has been used as a possible dx for my non MG symptoms until this particular go around with problems. I'm curious as to where your injury was, the nature, and any residual sx's you have. If you don't mind sharing the info with me, you could send me a PM to keep from Twisting this thread anymore than I am now . Thanks, and hugs. Quote:
