Red face Tomorrow is the BIG day!

Hello all! 2morrow I see my "boyfriend" - AKA Dr. I for my EMG, have my CT scan for my sinuses and MRI for back and have my PICC line flushed.....needless to say it will be a busy day! friday I see the dentist for my 4 absesses......that one doesn't bother me @ all - I can sleep through those! LOL

Luckily my gorgeous son will be there for moral support. His dark sense of humor always makes me laugh! After that, we will go to lunch if I am up to it - if tonight is any indicator, that will NOT be the case..........

Nervous about the EMG even though I've had them before - why don't they want us to put any lotion on our bodies before we go in? How would that skew the results?

My back is really hurting 2night - really hurting. I've already taken 4 pain pills today and no relief whasoever. On the postive side, my neuro has already taken steps to get me into physical therapy soon! I love, love, love that man!

I was also told that if I didn't have ins, it would cost about $10,000 just o get diagnosed....that is just plain wrong........without it, we would literally be bankrupt - no joke.........

Hopefully I'll get some relief soon. The pain is drving me crazy!

Wish me luck!
ERin

Lots and Lots of luck tomorrow Erin. That is a lot in one day - I'm sure glad your son will be with you.

The lotions/oils would interfere with the conduction of the electricity on the EMG and if they use the sticky electrodes, they won't stick!

Have you tried to ice your back at all? 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. I don't know how much it will help with it being messed up this long, but it may at least freeze the muscles so they will stop signaling the nerve to tighten the muscles. This is the cycle that goes on when you have an injury like that. Some people do better with heat. I prefer to start with ice for the first day, then alternate ice and heat a few times each day.

I'm sorry you're hurting - I know that pain intimately from all my neck problems!
It sucks BIG TIME! Be sure to let us know what you find out tomorrow.

Loves ya.

Erin, will keep you in my prayers, I know how hard it is to have so many appts in one day, let alone, and emg, and dental appt.
Well, now, I'm off to have my iron infusion..these are getting old fast, and I have a couple more weeks to go.
So, while they are pumping iron into me, I'll be praying for you. It will get my mind off of it all..smiles.
Love Lizzie

Smile EMG went great!

Saw my darling neuro for my EMG - back, legs, hands.....he was worried about neuropathy (?), but it turned out great! He said that I am in better shape than most (yeah, right! LOL) and he hopes to reduce my pred even further son - yay!

Weird thing about my back - said my RIGHT side had a few problems, not the left, cannot figure that one out, but the MRI on Monday should solve that problem.

Also had my PICC line flushed - all was well there, but it took 2 hours before they were able to get to me.

I'd forgetten how uncomfortable the EMG needle part was.....yikes!

Today was a CRAZY day - no time for the ct scan or MRI - everything took too long, so I'll have them done in the hospital next week - what else is there to do?

Still cannot figure out why my back is hurting so much! I should clarify that he thinks I have a COMPRESSION fracture - not compound! And that the pred may be the culprit......but I need the pred in order to live, so what are my choices?

Does anyone else have lower back pain that feels like electricity going down their leg and then the foot goes numb? It comes out of no where. It feels OK when I am propped up on pillows, but once I get behind the wheel or even walk too much and I am in PAIN - bad pain!

I hope all of you are doing GREAT today!

Big hugs!
Erin

Erin, so glad your test came out good for you. I am so sorry you have the back issue, MG is itself is far more than anyone should have to deal with. Sounds like you are being well taken care of though !

Hey Erin,
Glad to hear the EMG went well. Sorry you couldn't get all of it done in one trip!
Pain going down one leg into the foot is typical with pinched nerves, etc. Rarely do you have issues on both sides, so the EMG doesn't surprise me. Do you feel it in both legs though? If one, which one? Curious because of how you said you couldn't figure out why the R was the problem. Sometimes, with a back injury you can have what they call "referred" pain in an area other than where the injury is. I've not heard of it being that severe on referred pain though, but I have limited knowlege there. My pain has always been right where it's supposed to be!

Take care and rest that back. Stay in a comfy position so you're not irritating it, and try the ice/heat if you haven't yet.

Talk to you soon, I hope!

Smile Hey Becky!

Hey there! Yep, it stinks that I wasn;t able to get it done, but I am paying for it 2day! I am soooooo swollen and TIRED! The heat/humidity make me wilt in a big way!

It is my left side that is giving me grief - and only my left side. Hopefully the MRI will show something....

I will say one thing, though. Saw my dentisit today and she said she couldn't "see" my 4 abcesses on the x-ray - that is until she dug around and found tiny fractures in my teeth - apparently I am a freak of nature. She was fascinated! Told me I was a "great case" study, cuz' I'm gonna need all new teeth - the ones I have right now are too compromised from all of my root canals - so someone will be writing their thesis on MG........

I see the oral surgeon on May 19th. Until then I have to ride it out. She was afraid to give me any meds - for fear on drug interaction.......

Sunday is my neice's b-day, so 2morrow will be spent shopping - hate that! She is such a cool little kid so it's not too bad!

How are you?

Big hugs!
Erin
