I am an artist and gardener. I do both pretty well. They offer me escape from chronic pain and anxiety.

Right now I am doing trays of seedlings. They take alot of care when you don't have a greenhouse. Protection from severe rain, too much moisture, not enough, too much or not enough sun, etc.

I am intending to put some of them around the rocks, left by the road crew last spring.

Here is a picture of them I took the other day-- a before shot:
This is a new fire hydrant and new rocks at the corner of my street. We live 2 houses down. I am planning on some nice
flowers--daisies, black eyed susans and sedums to make this a bit nicer. I am also working on the area directly across from us, but I don't have a pic yet of that.
Doing seed is inexpensive, but time consuming. I can't do seeds when I am working, for example.
(I have some other photos in my album on my profile)

Mary, This is a nice idea. You guys do lots of interesting things.

When I actually feel good and have more energy than just what's required for existing (like dishes and meals), I like to do just about anything. I have a Masters in design, so I love doing that but the arms don't work that well any more. I am a writer and that's about all I do lately. This is pretty mundane but I love just watching the birds in our backyard (and bunnies). We have feeders, hummingbird/oriole too. Did you know that orioles love grape jelly? Just put a tupperware cover out there with some in it and watch them come on over.

I love to socialize but that just doesn't happen much anymore. I love road trips - nope, not happening. Most days I just hang out, write, snuggle my shih-tzu and try to get by. And I HATE that I can't contribute to anyone with time or money anymore. I used to volunteer but can't do that either.

And, Becky, you like to puzzle doctors (which is really funny) but I guess these days I'm really good at nailing their hides to the wall since they keep screwing up my care! Would any of you really run a pregnancy test on someone who didn't have a uterus?!

Annie

ps. No, I don't really "nail doctor's hides;" I've never even yelled at a doctor, slammed a door behind me or made a funny face at them.

Annie, I didn't know they liked grape jelly ! I have learned something new from you today !
A Design Master, well, there's your creative side, color & placement, love it , & writing !
No ! They didn't run a preg. test on you ! What are we going to do with these doctors, can't live with them, can't live without them !

Annie,
OMG! Who did that to you (preg test)?
I have actually yelled at a doctor. It's the first neuro I had that was so egotistic and blacklisted me. He said "well your depressed", and I yelled "Well, DUH!, One day I'm walking around and the next I'm unable to do anything and you are saying I can't have the one medication (Mestinon - he had taken away my prelim dx) that helps me at all!"
It didn't help anything, but made me feel a little better. He'd already told me my problem wasn't neuro - he'd run all the tests (fibber - there were lots of tests left).

Annie, I don't know if you're in a position to get a motor home (used, whatever), but it is wonderful! We can go, and I can go lay down whenever I need to, don't have to walk far at all for the bathroom, kitchen, anywhere so I have more energy for the "playing". And the escape and change in scenery always seems to rejuvinate my spirits. I love just sitting in my CO mountains and letting my brain go blank - one of my forms of meditation.

Stephanie, kids do love looking and pictures and hearing stories that go with them. That's so neat that you have put all that together. Generations to come with no doubt love going through it all as well. My mom got a little family history book her uncle had put together about the family's origins in Colorado. It was so neat to read and see these old pioneer type pictures of school house and such! I'm sure you will be able to continue it. Maybe not all the time or for as long periods as you have been used to, but any will be fun!

You all are very creative! I'm most impressed with our group here!

Becky
