Erin, I read the book coping with Prednisone, and it is a very good book.
Prednisone affects our systems differently, but for a very few blessed people, most will have weight gain with Prednisone.
I personally gained 25 pounds, and am told it will go down once I'm off of Prednisone. Hope so.
My face is the part of me that drives me crazy, I'm such a poofy faced person now. Moon Face for certain.
I've lost weight on Prednisone, but it was because of other medical issues going on.
I try very hard to be stricked with my diet, as I don't want to balloon up any more than the 25. The twenty five, is purely from prednisone. I've never had any huge hunger problems while being on Pred. The only thing I seem to crave is Celery, Carrots, and Tomato soup. Not sure why, but the tomato soup with tons of pepper is the biggest craving I got.
I'm not going to complain, as I know someone who didn't want to eat anything but Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and gained something like 100 pounds in 6 months. So, I'm not going to complain too much about the 25. But it is depressing, and self esteem is affected. Hate my photo being taken any more.
Get that book , it really will help
Love Lizzie

My friend gave me her weight watchers books to check out. I am seriously considering doing weight watchers in order to lose some weight....I did weight watcher a long time ago and it worked....until I gained it back....but now...they have a new program and you get more points/food.

However, the appetite is huge with pred...

Default Sooooooooo frustrating!

Hello all! My neuro chewed me out about my weight gain - I'm @ 160 right now, but SERIOUSLY I have been on such a high does for so long........

I don't eat a ton, though I used to, though I try to eat right as well as little meals all day long, but it doesn't seem to help.

I was also told that I won't lose weight as long as I'm on pred I will have a hard time losing it - I never had this problem b/4!

I know 160 is too big for me......but how on earth am I supposed to lose weight while on Paxil (another prob) as well as pred?

Any tips?

Erin
