Smile Swallowing Test Today :)

Hello everyone and I hope today finds you strong. I have had a bad week due to my first Aralast infusion (for the Alpha-1) and had a death in the family and my husband had a heart attack, so if this weeks stress did not kill me then I am good to go I had a swallowing test this morning and although no liquids went into my wind pipe it showed my tongue was extremely swollen, so I guess it just proved I am allergic to just about all meds. Gave me an IV of benedryl and wow I can swallow so much easier! I am so happy to finally have that answered. My sleep test is next, waiting on the call for when they have it set up. Happy day everyone!

Hi Joanmarie,

Sorry to hear you had such a horrible week! I hope your husband is doing well. Good to hear you can swallow so much easier now, that must have been scary. Is there anything they can do about your allergies to all the meds? Good luck on the sleep test and keep us posted.

Take care,
Pat

Joanmarie, I am so sorry about the death in your family. And having your husband have a heart attack too. I really hope he is getting good care. I don't even know what to say - it's so hard when loved ones die or get sicker.

I'm sorry you are so allergic to meds. What an awful position to be in. Are they going to send you to an immunologist at all? I hope the sleep test goes well.

Annie

Smile Hi Joanmarie!

Hey hon! Sounds like you need to have someone give you BIG HUGS and prayers! I cannot believe all that you have been through......and you were still thoughtful enough to check in let us know how you are - you are one tough cookie!

Do you have help with your hubby? Who is taking care of YOU?

I am so glad that the test proved that your tongue was swollen, though bummed that you are allergic to the meds..........have any of your docs discussed what their "plan" is?

Hang in there, honey! It will get better! It has to!

Big hugs!
ERin

Thank you all for the good thoughts and words. No plans on what to do next and to be honest here, I really don't care. I am done. Now that I know what the problem is I will deal with it, benadryl at night so I can sleep better and as for other meds, I don't take any and control symptoms with positive thoughts and work around the weakness, you all know what I mean I am just happy that things are finally being answered. Hubby is doing well, he is home which makes it easier for me Thank you all for being here, this site and the people in it are AWESOME!

Smile Hey Joanmarie!

Hi! I hope you are feeling GREAT today!

I am so happy that your hubby is feeling better! I know how much I rely on my baby - he has been amazing through all of this - once he got over the initial shock!

It will get better! I know it's ez for more to say, but believe me when I say that it was awful trying to get dx'ed, but it was all worth it! I'm no pollyanna, believe me. I try and stay upbeat b/c I will not let this MG ruin my life! I refuse to be a victim. Some drs just suck. That is true. I had many tell me that nothing was wrong. I saw "specialist" after specialist just to be told it was in my head, etc, etc.........After all that you have been through the last thing you need is some idiot telling you it's in your head, blah, blah, but you do need the dx in order to get WELL again.

You are one tough lady. You have had an awful week. It just sux sometimes.

IT WILL GET BETTER! After everything you have been through you never whine or complain, you just plough through. That type of STRENGTH is amazing, so don't give up just yet!

Big hugs!
Erin
