Becky,
Thanks for all the good info. I will try and not spaz out anymore today!! LOL! Seriously, you gave good info and I and I'm sure the others appreciate it. It really helps to have someone who has "experience" with these things as we are going thru them for the first time. You are a valuable resource!
Thanks,
Simon

Hey All! Thanks for all the input and experiences. Just thought I would say I have had low potassium levels often in the past andI know this can cause cramping. So I could not take it anymore and decided to start taking potassium. I took some yesterday and today and it seems like it helps after I take it. I do not know if it works that quickly. It says its only 99mg of potassium, 3% of daily value. Well who knows maybe more of us have low potassium? The twitching gets really bad in my eyes and face to. Its very irritating when it wont stop and you know someone is looking at you funny. Well good luck everyone! Take care.

OOPS! Gotta correct a word in my post! It's a cholinergic crisis, not cholinesterase crisis. Can't have you calling a doc and sounding like you're unedumacated! HA HA!

RE: The potassium - I was low on potassium as well as vitamin D until recently. I think that is where some of my severe spasms were coming from, too. Or maybe they just wouldn't have been so severe had those levels been right, since I do still have some and my levels are ok now. Good point, mamma3! All these drugs we all hve to take cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies, so we all need to stay on top of that to keep from compounding problems.

Default That was really informative!

Woah, thanks so much, Becky! that info. was really helpful!

It's funny, because the nightshades are supposed to be avoided if a person has arthritis too....I wonder if there's any connection....

I had started my string of quitting smoking (string, because each quit would last about 2-weeks, 3-months or 6-months) a couple of years ago, before my MG symptoms started. Main withdrawal symptom I noticed, up until today, is extreme muscle relaxation. I also wonder if the nicotine has been covering up my MG for quite some time, especially since my thoracic surgeon says I've probably had this tumour for many years...

My potassium levels tend to be pretty normal, but my calcium levels, oddly, tend to be a bit low...It's strange because I drink milk like it's no one's business...lol...My doc. suggested that I might be low on vitamin D as well...

Nicky

Smile Hi Nick!

Hey hon! I had terrible muscle spasms, but I was low on Pot, iron, and the like! Now I take 1800 mgs a day of calcium with vitamin D and potassium (500 mgs), PLUS I take iron and prenatal vitamins.........Now - voila! The spasms are gone!

Hope this helps!

Erin
