Hi,
Two months ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, these past 3 weeks I have had unbelievable pain in my left thigh. I can only describe it as electrical shocks that radiate from my hip area down to my knee. My Diabetic Doctor prescribed Vitamin B1,6 and 12 injections, Lornoxicam, Omeprazole and Diclofenic cream. Also an appointment with a neurologist who sent me for a CT Scan. Tonight the results of the scan proved negative, no trapped nerves or problems with my spine and the specialist stated he could not help me so its back to the Diabetic Dr. I am aware of Diabetic Neuropathy but what can I do to help the symptoms and pain. I will be honest I have never had such pain in all of my 58yrs before. Allan |

creative,
I am sorry to hear of your PN. I understand the pain all to well. Not sure what to recommend since I have yet to find anything that helps with my pain. I can offer a warm WELCOME. Dewey

![]() Welcome to NT I'm so sorry you two suffer with diabetes and PN symptoms. My mom is diabetic. It's no fun, at all. Keep looking. My mom uses my LED and infrared light pads at times and gets relief in a lot of ways. Thumbs, shoulder, feet, neck... She's reluctant to use them because it's tooooo new and she don't know the long term effect and she's also afraid of waking up her paralysis and realizing pain from PN. She don't have pain. she had swelling, edema and multiple injuries to her "bad foot" and her thumbs and shoulders get stiff and sore from wheeling her wheelchair around. I have a DVD of the neuropathy centers of america advocating the use of the brand and model I use and can sell. Just not too successful at that, but I do believe in them. Drinking lots of water helps diabetic fallout. Good nutrition. Glycernia drinks. It's been a while so forgive me. I forgot the name of technique - lymphatic fluids, lymphedema...something????? Mom had some light touch massage that moved the fluids and help reduce swelling with a lot of feet and leg issues. Again, she wasn't in pain but has all the problems of neuropathy. Elevate the feet above...and I stress ABOVE your heart during the day. I usually prop mom's feet up on pillows in her fully reclined recliner. I can tell she's not used to that. ![]() ![]() ![]() Epson Salts foot baths. Just thinking...

Hi Glenntaj,
Wow that was an interesting Web Site. Never heard of Diabetic amyotrophy. Seems this fits the bill (hopefully) I am trying my best to reduce my Blood Glucose and over the past 2 months gone from 346 (19.22 mmol/l) to 115 (6.3) with low medication and low carb diet. I stopped my exercises on advice of my Dr till I had completed some tests to find any other reasons for the pains. Most of the sites advocate exercise and the possibility that with good control the neuropathy will become easier. I have a healthy mind and am not depressed over my Diabetis or pains just want to live a longer life. Should have thought about that earlier. Allan |
