My son has been having involuntary "jerking" movements in his abdominal area for going on 3 mths. The pediatric neurologist has done a few MRI's and an overnight EEG to rule out tumors and seizures and everything came back normal. However the jerking in his abdomin continues and is not painful but definitely is aggrevating and interferes with life. It's hard to concentrate on homework and he's worried that the other kids at school will notice. The Dr started him on Clonidine 0.1mg at night which I don't really see any improvement yet and we are on week 2. I am also nervous about the BP effects of clonidine, he also was diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD and we tried Focolin XR for 2 days and noticed and increase in frequency and severity of abdominal jerking and stopped it! We've decided to not worry about the inattentiveness right now we are more focused on the myoclonus! Is there anyone out there with similar symptoms of a child that could give any insight and advice?? Worried Mom5261

Welcome to NT
That's not something I know about. I did Google the Dx and found lots of info. http://www.google.com/search?source=...0&oq=myoclonus You've probably done that already. Here is our link to rare disorders: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum2.html Someone over there may know something. This is the definition on our link to medical terminology: http://www2.merriam-webster.com/cgi-...l&va=myoclonus If it's neurological and musclular, then what about muscle relaxers. I'd ask about botox. just my simple thoughts. I hope you find answers and he gets okay real soon.

Hi I have heard of this in connection to seizures.
I'm not sure what I would suggest, but I would look into maybe whether starting one of the seizure medications would be a answer also. Donna |

has he had any: dietary changes new foods or more of one, add ins, new clothing (you would be surprised what the dye can do), new pets or around new animals, environments, new cleaning soaps, sprays, airfreshners (at home in the car, at school, schools have been disinfecting playground equipment since h1n1 flue and using the stronger cleaners) think of any and all changes that could have taken place in his life, anywhere.
