Help New Member. Having Spinal Cord Stimulator placed today

Hola...I got some really valuable information this morning reading posts from other patients who have undergone the SCS surgeries. Thought I would try and return the favor by posting my experiences here as well. I am a RN and am familiar with the procedure but that did next to nothing to prepare me for what to expect post op. Surgeons tend to hold that type of information back other than the main potential side effects discussed in the informed consent process until time permits after the procedure. Some but not all. Anyways...I needed information on surgical pain, activity levels length of time the temporary unit would be in place before the permanent one was inserted and thankfully I found that here. All those are questions that should be addressed early on in the Physicians office and many times they are however...patients and their familys are being hit with a lot of data all at once during the planning office visit and most questions that you want to ask you simply forget to do so..then as your walking to your car in the parking lot they all pop in your head....lol.
My trial SCS is in a few hours..I will keep regular posts on here to document my process. Hopefully others will gain some benefit from it.

Jerry
