Confused

Hii
I am a mother who is watching her 40-year-old son suffer from a spinal leak after ssurgery for "spinal stinosis." He seems like he has just exchanged one type of pain for another. Can't eat or drink , only a very little. has had projectile vomiting and is really sensitive to slightest light or sound. Had a blood patch three days ago. and had some relief at first but is slowly getting back to the same severe headache, plus severe leg pain that is supposed to be from "nerve damage." A few days after rsurgery, we took him to hospital emergency room where we were told "we can't do anything for him that you cant do at home. Why are they so afraid to give him pain relief meds? Seems to me any possible addiction wouldn't be likely when a person is suffering so much??Anything that will help that we as family can do for him??
