Default floridanana

New to this site. At my wits end with this Fibro. I have tried Lyrica, gained 24lbs in 6weeks. Dr said he would kill me at that rate. Tried Triliptal, caused severe shortness of breath, he took me off that too. My latest failure was Zonegran. At first it seemed to be working. Six weeks in I had lost 20lbs and the pain was pretty much bearable. Then came the side effects. Numbness in my face, bad taste, bloody nose, and sores in my mouth. Needless to say, I am no longer taking Zonegran either. Right now I am not on anything and the pain is comming back with a vengence. Does anyone have any suggestions? Im about to go off the deep end.

Welcome to NT

Fibro is miserable. It's hard to get control of.

There's lots of people here who you can share with. They may be able to give you some good pointers to lessen your suffering.

We're here for you.

Default Thank you for listening

Thank you everyone who replied. It's nice to know i'm not alone. Some days it's hard to cope with the constant pain and depression that come with Fibro. I miss the days when I could chase my grand babies around and just have a normal day. I have read alot of the helpful suggestions mentioned in the links provided. I am going to my neuro next week and I will bring some of the treatments to his attention. Hopefully between all we can come up with something that will work for me. (a full nights sleep without pain would be nice to begin with). Thanx Again Darlene AKA: floridanana

Welcome, floridanana! Sorry for your fibro, but glad you found us.

I take LDN (low dose naltrexone) for my Multiple Sclerosis. Fibromyalgia was among the maladies mentioned that it could help.

Best wishes to you in finding something that will help.

Default Back at square 1

Well I'm back from the Neuro, he says we have to start all over again since I am allergic to the Zonegran. He has started me on a low dose of Topamax. I would love to hear from other folks who have taken, or are taking this drug. He also said Cortisone shots in my spine might help. I am not keen about this idea. (i'm not one for needles). Not only do I suffer from Fibro, but I have a blood clotting disorder called Factor V Leiden. I have blood drawn at least once a month and I dont know how this might affect my clotting problems. I have had 2 Dvt's and 2 Pe's, and I dont want to end up with anymore. I have heard this is a tempoary fix for the pain. I would like some feed back on this procedure also. Thanks Again; Darlene AKA floridanana.
