Smile Hello--Wanting to Introduce Myself

I am new here. Though i've been a chronic pain patient for 18+yrs (!!) now, I have yet to join an online group...until now. Hoping to make new friends and find/offer support. Briefly, I was in an automobile accident in April of 1992. As a result, I have a seizure disorder and post concussion syndrome (from traumatic closed head injury), and RSD with non diabetic neuropathy from a cervical spine injury. I ruptured entire facet joints of cervical spine, and tore small and large muscle groups of upper body. Of my problems, the RSD is definitely the worst, but I like to say that I am fortunate to have it with accompanying neurological deficits from head injury...I am in constant pain, but the head injury allows me to forget once in a while!!!
I may pop in to the epilepsy/seizure disordered crowd once in a while, but mostly I'll be skulking around in forums related to RSD and accompanying pain topics. My intractable pain is severe at this point, necessitating high dose long term opiod therapy, and I am particularly interested in meeting others in similar situations. Lately I've become more fearful about being able to continue treatment (without which I will certainly die--and almost have in past--from intense pain). I've developed cardiac-adreanal insufficiency syndrome as a result of longterm pain. My endocrine system is shot from overstimulus due to pain. Anyone else in similar situations? I hope to meet you.
Prior to my accident, I was a Classical Pianist. At the time of my injury I was preparing for the finals of the Murray-Dranoff International Competition in Munich Germany. This is still my passion, but I am too disabled to have an advocation. Instead I live vicariously through my miracle child, who inherited my prediliction for all things musical.
I hope to meet some of you...Please say "HI!" and introduce yourselves! And if I am discovered wandering around aimlessly in forums...I may have forgotten myself. Please be kind and remind me that I am an RSD suffer with a head injury!!!

Hello, whisperstothesun,

You're too cool!

It is what it is, my friend. I think you know that.

Certainly I understand pain. I do so much better these days but I've never forgotten the darkness in the a.m. hours when it was just me, my dog and God.

I have TOS with bad neck and back. Suffered hell with bilateral arms and upper body for 7 1/2 years. It took a lot of different treatment modalities. the last with the best relief came with LED and infrared light therapy pads. They're a little pricy but have helped me a lot. I managed to get three and have used them for almost 2 years now. Will share more info if you're interested.

TOS is a battle. I understand RSD is a beast to bear too. So sorry you're suffering like that.

You have come to a great place for support and understanding. You will find lots of helpful people here. There's so much info here, it's overwhelming. If you need help getting around, just let us know.

The "SEARCH" buttom is a nice feature. It's really helpful.

Peace
