I have been suffering from PCS for a year now. I am currently on my 5th doctor. An acupuncturist. I have gone 3 times and each time it has made my headaches worse but my parents insist I continue it (I am freshman in HS) I was wondering if anyone had any success with it or if anyone knew how it worked. Thank you!

There was a new article posted here on how acupuncture really works:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ht=acupuncture Adenosine which is increased with acupuncture works outside the cell to balance receptors for neurotransmitters. Inside the cell inside the mitochondria, adenosine is part of AMP, ADP and ATP which are energy molecules that run our lives. Adenosine is comprised of adenine + ribose.

Hi kendyll, I have been doing acupuncture for a number of years off and on. In the past 3 years it has been regular. From my experience you should not be having headaches if all is ok....for sure not all the time. I had a bad head after the first time I went to see mine. But after that it didint happen.
Mine is a family doctor from Asia who offers this as part of his practice now. I tried to go to a chiroprator as it would be more affordable and regretted it greatly. I was so mentally altered after the smaller treatment I barely got home and I was driving. I had never had that happen before. My family doc is older and is ver ver experienced. He has patients with MS and myasthenia like me. I live in the midwest...dont know where you are but I highly recommend this doc. The chiro had a mind set that I was toxic and if he treated that I would get better. That should have been a red flag. This fella also is limited to doing only places he can get to when a person is dressed so that is the smaller treatment I mentioned. My doc has me undress and does a number of points on my abdomen which are very key. Have you told the doc about your headaches? If you have and he hasnt changed something or suggested something like hydrating really well before and after then you a new acupuncturist. For any body work like this or massage it is really important to drink alot of water before and after to help the body flush. Most of these people I have interacted with will tell you this or offer you water on the spot. Annie59 Quote:

Hi
Welcome, I am new here as well. I have recently been diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and have extreme pain in my right leg and foot. I have seen an accupunturist for the sensitivity, hopefully to decrease the sensitivity in my leg. I have found that he actually helps me more with side efects from my numerous medications. And for me that means nausea and headaches, from the 1st time I saw him my stomache and headache were gone for a short time and the length of time the headache and nausea are gone increase with every session. I would tell your parents about the headaches and see a new accupunturist. It sounds like they are pressing to hard or not being sensitive enough for you. There are many you should not stay with any kind of physician if you hurt more after the visit. Find a new one |
