Default break on through

ive never communicated online before, not even sure this is going through.the reason im trying out this place is because i need to start somewhre.i suffered a nervous breakdown in 1990,hence the resulting ptsd.was born with adhd and ocd, which my father tried to slap out of me.[the nervous ticks that is]so,here i am,numerous meds and **** happens later........HELLO to you all,i feel safe, cant see you,can stop at any moment...good start.dont have more to say really.how about just began methadone for pain control about 3 months ago.insurance must love this med.ITS CHEAP,never mind long term problems due to whatever toxicity conditions.also forgot to take neurontin for about 24hrs last week and decided to see if i could get off of them, and so i have.7 days now.any comments on what first few weeks[months] off neurontin are like.what should i look forward to?yours truly kennyjack 2/21/07 :

Default Hi KennyJack...

Welcome to the forums. First off, methadone would not be my first choice of painkiller. In fact, it would probably be my last. Some people seem to like it, but it caused me more problems than solutions.

When I went off Neurontin I did it cold-turkey, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend that for anyone else. Especially if you have a history of seizures. I didn't suffer any withdrawal symptoms that were too terrible to bear. A bit of diahhrea, some shakiness, and difficulty sleeping and eating were the worst, but they didn't last too long.

Pardon my saying so, but it sounds to me that you need to be able to talk to people who understand as much as anything. It must have been quite hard to be brought up under those circumstances. I had a tough Dad, too.

I'm really glad that you found us here, and hope you hang around. There are a lot of very nice and very smart people here. Feel perfectly free to jump into any thread that interests you. What you posted here came through just fine. I wish you good luck, Kenny. And look forward to seeing you around.

hello, kennyjack here.two questions.first, anyone with experience qitting neurontin and what changes, even subtle, that you experienced .looking back does anything come to mind about mental changes with clarity, even clearer thinking, and also the not so good memories of that particular experience. second,is this the right place to talk about this.i dont suffer from any dementias im aware of.yours truly, kennyjack

I stopped taking Neurontin with no side effects...that was my experience and yours could be totally different. Have you asked your doc what he/she thinks about you not taking it?

Hello Kennyjack,

Welcome to the forum. Your doing O.K. communicating I have a lot of experience with neurontin. Don't stop neurontin suddenly, you could get very sick even have a seziure. Tapering off is fine. How fast depends on how much you were taking. But just take it easy!

Take care
