Question Awaiting C3-C7 Fusion with Diskectomy

I'm a newby here to this any any other forum but realize the importance of feedback from others in similar situations...I am getting ready to schedule an "Anterior Cervial Diskectomy with Fusion of C3-C7" at the ripe age of 39. My Neuro Surg and Ortho Surg both confirmed cord compression and possible bruising or swelling. Luckily, I do not experience pain in my neck, just decreased motion and soreness. I was told that the preventive measure would be to stabilize my spine before I am injured permanently.
I have a congenotal fusion of C3-C4, which has neve bothered me, but the proposed surgery would put C3-C7 together.
I am not taking any pain meds, anti-imflammatories or muscle relaxers - instead, I am under the care of an amazing Acupuncturist a few times per week, receive neck traction at the Chiropractor and take Chinese Herbs.
I do experience Facial tingling and numbing (Vagus Nerve 3) and tingling fingers in both hands.
I am terrified but have been told that if I ever want to be able to resujme my normal active life, that I need to stabilize my spine.
So any ideas, tips or insight is greatly appreciated.

Welcome

Sometimes surgery is the answer, for whatever reason. We are human and our bodies are fragile. We seem to only become aware of that when we have a deficit for whatever reason.

You will be okay... they are very good these days and seem to have perfected their techniques for the best results. Have faith in God and your surgeons.

You will need to understand and prepare for post care. This is critical for your best results to get this right. Do ask questions. It's the only way to get prepared.

The "SEARCH" button above is a great starting point for asking questions and getting info.

Keep us posted as you go along...

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
