Post Hello I'm new and my name is Yaya

Hello, I'm new, I'm 57 years old and my name is yaya. This looks like a very interesting site. I have 3 daughters, my youngest has a mental illness. Recently I was told by my doctor I'm very high risk for a heart attack. It's scaring me and I'm working on taking better care of myself. Just two days ago I started on statin medication.

Welcome yaya. I am sorry you are at high risk for heart disease, but trying to change the odds. I have always been told to take CoQ10 when taking a statin drug, and that our homocysteine level is even more important than cholesterol level (pharmaceutical companies just don't have a drug to lower that so many doctors fail to measure it.)

Cholesterol levels can be confusing. One doctor said my cholesterol was "high" and should be on a statin drug. Another said no - I should not be because my ratio of HDL (good) to LDL (bad) was excellent.

In the meantime, I am exercising more and eating better, so I can relate.
