My husband has some kind of neuro issue, shakes all the time. not hard enough to see but can feel it when i hug him(this has been going on a couple years). He also has a staph infection(he isn't diabetic that was one of the things the doc checked) in his foot that the doctor thinks has gone all the way to the bone. we have no car and no one that will take us anywhere. if it can't be done in town or online it doesn't get done.
up till week before last his mom was taking him to the doctor but now she won't went off and cussed him out because it was cutting into her days off work. so he's not going to the doc anymore and WON'T go. We have two daughters. ages 11 and 14. it's pretty much come down to a choice of making him leave or watching him die, and i dunno what to do. |

Hello LadyMoretta and WELCOME to Neurotalk!
I'm no expert but my adopted dad used to shake like that and was later diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. At first we could feel it when we held his hand or gave him a hug.... and then over time it was very visable. Of course there are other things that make a body shake too... Again... I'm am no expert... but seizures and essential tremors are a possibility too. Here are a couple of links to forums here on Neurotalk that may be of interest to you. Please don't give up and don't let your husband give up. While I don't know where you live.... there has got to be someone, some form of transportation that can help get your husband the the doctors for the medical treatment that he needs. If you attend a church please ask if there is anyone that can help with transportation or if they know of anyone that can. If your church does not... don't hestitate to call around to other churches. You can also ask at your doctor's office....they should know of some sort of medical transportation. I wish you the best. ![]() Abbie

Hi. You sound terribly overwhelmed by all this. It must be so frustrating. Abbie gave you good advice. Even if you are not religious, you can walk into a church and ask for help. Even if they can't help you they just might steer you to someone who can. You are in my prayers tonight.

Thank you both for the welcome.
We live in a little bitty town, the closest doctor capable of dealing with hubby's foot is 20 miles away, only transportation unless he can get someone to take him, cost $35 a pop round trip, the only income we have is my disability(I have ptsd, migraines, and a few other issues). I hadn't thought of asking if someone at the kids church might be willing to help if hubby will even consider asking. The kids go to church but hubby and i don't. He's an atheist and i'm really really not good with more then a few people around. I'm honestly more worried about the foot issue then the shaking at this point, he won't even admit that issue yet. |

I gather your husband is not working? Can he collect unemployment? Or Disability, OR FOOD STAMPS!!!! And do go to the church and get some help. Sometimes we have to get out of our comfort zone and go for help. sounds like you are there. I do wish you well. Melody

I agree with the post that listed several places to check out to see if you could get your hubby diagnosed proberly. Perhaps making an appt. to a neurologist first might help. Depending on the city you live in, there's usually transportation for those who don't have automobiles. Check with your bus company. Here where we live, there is what's called "Dial-A-Ride" where you can call the bus company, and arrange for a ride (to and from the place you want to go ) for a small fee. Check it out
Is your husband a veteran of the service? Often Veteran's affairs office has free transportation for its veterans. Another place is to call your local Welfare office, they might be able to direct you to places that offer rides for people who don't have transportant. Do you possibly have a friend or another relative that could help you ? How do you get to the store ? If you want to get this diagnosed properly, move heaven and earth to get this done. Obviously this isn't anything to separate from a spouse over, unless there's other reasons as well...... Often finding out the problem can prevent FURTHER PROBLEMS down the road. HAD my DH( dear Hubby) who is now deceased been diagnosed in early childhood, the SEVERE seizure disorder he was diagnosed with at age 25 could have been controlled with proper medication ( this is a direct quote from the neurologist we took him to.....not my opinion ! ) If nothing else, due to the fact that you have internet access.....find out things there. Put "Free or Low cost tranportation in _____"( fill the blank in with your City and State). Trying to find a answer to a problem sometimes isn't easy...but there is an answer out there...just continue to look!! Keep us posted here.....let us know what you find out Quote:

I LOVED Dial-a-Ride when we lived up there, the closest thing we have here cost $35. We live in a tiny town that doesn't have much of anything. We've gotten one problem kinda sorted out, his mom is insisting on taking him to get his foot taken care of. He's pretty much ignoring the neuro stuff and says he doesn't have any problems. I'm doing what i can, getting him to do anything is impossible if he doesn't want to do it. He's not a veteran and there just isn't much available here at least not that we have access to. as far as going to the store, either his sister takes him on her one day off every couple weeks or I walk. There are other issues(honestly i've wanted out for a LONG time) and this was just about the last straw.....
