Causes of tightness on the top of foot?

Default Causes of tightness on the top of foot?
I have had a reoccurring tightness on the top of my foot. It bothers me mostly at night and has gotten worse. It feels like I need to snap or crack my ankle. It isn't really pain but an annoying tightness all around the top of my foot. While lying down my foot is dropped and I feel a need to bend the foot up. It is hard to explain, but Any ideas?

A good podiatrist should give you answers.
