Default Hello

Greetings Members
I am Ryushie and I am new too all this. After 1 agonizing year of medical disasters and losing my job that i loved (School Bus driver) i was diagnosed with Per Neuropathy Caused from Undiagnosed Diabeties. Since then my life as turned upside down. I did not know there was a support group for this illness untill this morning. I have been trying to stumble threw all these changes alone and i feel its time i reached out and got some help. I will attend my first RL meeting with others who suffer from this in Nov, but feel i must at least talk to someone before then. I was hoping to find a kindred spirit among this group.
I am 49yrs old married 27 years too a wonderful man.. we have 1 daughter and 1 granddaughter.
The pain and not sleeping is causing me to be a bit depressed at times and i do try to keep my chin up..but i find it harder to do each day with the pain /weakness looming over me. Too be completely honest i am scared of what the future may bring in way of more illnesses, bedridden and pain.
This Per Neuropathy hit me suddenly 3 months after i was diagnosed with Diabeties, I could hardly walk.. pain was my constant companion along with sudden fatique, and Weight loss. I wasnt diagnosted untill 8 months later with Amyopathy,Ataxia,Per Neuropathy. I got full disablity within 4 weeks of filing for it because i really couldnt work anymore. This is all so new too me and feel so overwhelmed by all the sudden changes. Again i am new here and not sure how this works..but if you have a few mins stop and talk too me.

Smile Hello Ryushie!

Welcome to NT!
I'm sorry about these battles you are facing. The good thing, tho, is that you've found a wonderful place for support and understanding.
The Peripheral Neuropathy forum here is very active and FULL of good information! Certainly check out the top part of the page called the "Sticky" section. Feel free to introduce yourself below that in the active section. Many there will be happy to help. Here is the link to get you there...

I know what you mean about how PN changes your life. I too struggle with depression and I'm not able to be active like I once was. It's hard to maintain a family life and responsibilities when you are racked with pain.

This forum was a life-saver for me, that's for sure. Our families and friends love and care about us, but nobody really comprehends what it's all about because it's a type of pain that you can't 'see'. This is very emotionally devestating for us.

I'm thrilled that you were able to get disability so quickly. Did you have a lawyer help you? I'm heading that way myself I'm afraid, but I've heard that usually they deny first applicants. We've got several other forums here (including SSDI) that you may be interested in. Diabetes, Depression.....NT covers all the bases

Make yourself at home. Everyone is down to earth and we all know what pain is all about.
I'm glad you found us!

Caring
Rae
