Hi im new here.
I had a C5 discectomy on the 27th September this year after having terrible pain for the last 10 years.I have had Epidural's with not success and procedures where they tried to burn the nerve endings to try trick the brain from sending pain signals this was absolute torture and no relief.I am still in pain and still on the same medication which i was realling hoping to not have to take again.I still have the same pain and now the added pain from the surgery which became infected that has now cleared .The day after my surgery i had a very numb right thigh which after 3 days turned to pain even the touch of my clothes is sore and i can not put weight on it so at the moment i am worse off. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm so sorry to hear what you've been thru and what you are continuing to battle. This intense pain you describe sounds suspiciously like RSD. Check out the RSD forum and see what you think. Here's the shortcut link to get you there:

I am sorry to hear that you had such trouble after C-5 being worked on. Usually the upper body, arms, upper neck and shoulders are effected by cervical issues. Lower back trouble usually involves the leg, hip area. The other post may be right that there is some other involvement in your condition other than cervial issues. I had never heard of the proceedure you had to burn with trying to trick your stem core. I had something called Katamine infussion, that really helped me and did not hurt very much to administer. I was fused C3-7. It takes a long time after surgery of any kind on your neck to feel better. I hope you will seek all the opinions you can get Don't give up with trying to find some relief. I know you don't like the medication, but It is better than suffering needlessly. Take them until an answer can be found and don't feel bad about it. I am glad you found neuro talk. Hi Trish, I hope that your leg pain has resolved and/or that you have seen your doctor since you posted. I would worry about blood clots from surgery with that type of pain.

I had to have an ultrasound of both legs after ACDF surgery due to some symptoms I had. I hope this post finds you well.
