Confused Help- I am so confused

I was so happy to come across this forum while searching for answers about post concussion syndrome. I was diagnosed about 10 months ago and my symptoms are complicated with IBS, Fibromyalgia, previous depression. What I find is that Doctors lump everything together and label me now as ADHD which I know isn't really the issue. I am in Las Vegas and looking for a Psychologist or other Specialist who can actually diagnose and treat my PCS. I have difficulty in expressing myself and tend to downplay my conditions which I'm really working on. IF I can't describe how I am affected then how will a Doctor know what's wrong right? I don't know why I do that, maybe denial cause I want to fit in and feel normal. Anyway, I am really struggling to find a professional who believes that PCS exists and desperately need to be treated. I'm a mess. 60 yr old woman living along and also going through divorce and representing myself with no lawyer. Husband has quit paying maintenance and I am facing the streets end of November. Gotta get some help in that regard too.

Smile Hi Rainbow

Welcome to NT!
I am so very sorry to hear that you are going thru all of this.
Do you have anybody at all who can help advocate for you?
Maybe there are some sort of local places you can reach out for help? Doors start opening when we reach out for help and perhaps you'll be led to the right medical professional or financial aide.

There is no lack of support here

People are very caring and understanding here.
This is the link to get you to the post concussion forum:

If you are unable to work due to the severity of your disabilities, you should consider applying for SSD. If you have the work credits you'd apply for SSDI. If you don't, then you'd apply for SSI. SSI does have asset restrictions, but that doesn't seem likely to be an issue if you're facing homelessness. You can actually qualify for both programs... At age 60, the standard is lowered for qualifying for SSD because the government considers that it's harder for you to adapt to your disabilities in the short period before you retire, and that you'll have more difficulty finding an employer that will hire you.

If you check out the Catch 22 sticky in the SSD forum, there are links for different resources. At age 60, additional subsidized housing programs may be available as well. Sometimes moving to a neighboring city or county, can mean the difference between being put on a wait list for years, or getting help right away.

One other thing to consider, some state's offer a subsidy to SSI beneficiaries. You might want to consider that if you're going to be forced to move anyway.

If you apply for cash aid, Medicaid, and/or food stamps, and you have a court order requiring that you receive alimony, the county or state you live in might help you pursue collection from your ex.

I was making pretty broad assumptions of resources that might be applicable to you. If you know what type of resources you'd like to pursue, and provide any additional relevant details, I'll certainly be happy to try and do a little research for you.

Hello,

I just wish things are better for you tomorrow. You sure do have a lot to deal with.

Do ask questions so you will know your options.

It's a rough time for a lot of people, and you're having it rough. Here's some hugs for you...

Hang in there.
