Blush Hello from Ireland to fellow pain members.

Hello to you all, I see I am not alone in my pain though at times I feel I am at times BUT having said that I have a FAB husband

I am new here so please be patient with me

I have lower Lumbar problems and have had back problems for years now but very bad in the past 2 years.

Over 3 weeks ago I ended up in hospital after 2 morphine injections that day did not ease my pain and had 2 more Mri scans and went home 5 days later.

I have to have an operation on my lower lumbar, the Neurosurgen told me I was never a candidate for fusion and am not now and also my upper spine is in a C shape, so he has decided to put in a form of scaffolding to support the upper part of my body and maybe give me some sort of pain relief but he also stated that I would be in pain for the rest of my life and if the scaffolding did not work it would be easy to remove ... Sad that is the only thing that can be done for me.

He wants my muscles to be relaxed as he said that my recovery would be slow if they are tense. I am due to have the operation in early Jan 2012 which will also give me time to sort out a problem with my health insurance.

I am sure a lot of you will know the great pain I am in, I can walk around the house and went back upstairs to bed for the 1st time last Sunday, I got a loan of a zimmer frame from a relation to use if I want to walk outside and I am also trying to get a wheelchair as I cannot stand for long or walk any distance on account of the pain.

I also have a Tarlov Cyst in my sacral joint and I am in pain there as well but my Neuro says that it is ok and not causing me any harm or pain

My whole body can go into awful spasms and I break out into cold sweats with the pain even though I am on the following meds.............. (it is like going through the menopause again

Durogesic DTrans Patches 25 mg every 72 hours (3 days)
Palixia 200 mg twice a day
Oxynorm 5mg three times a day
Baclofen 10 mg three times a day
Lyrica 50mg three times a day
and 2 Paracetamol three to 4 times times a day as they are supposed to give a kick to the Palexia.

Any feed back would be greatly appricated by you all

Crazy Oh Hannie!

I am SO sorry you are in this much pain! I can certainly understand the lumbar and spasms - it's horrible!

You are right tho - there are SO many folks here who are racked with pain and the support is phenominal. We've got quite a few friends from Ireland! I just love how NT connects us from all over the world.

Abbie has given you the links to several of the forums here that are right on target with what you battle. Seems there is something here for everything!

Anyway, WELCOME aboard! It's great that you are here!

Caring,
Rae

Thank you all for the above and I hope that you all will get release from pain

I had the flu last week so that is why I was not on here.

I am still in dreadful pain and even though the cyst is not supposed to cause me pain. My hips are in pain, I dont know if this is because my rib cage seems to have crash landed on to them or not. I have no waist anymore and my bum is quite painful as well.

Enough about me for now and thank you all for the lovely welcome.

Hi Hannie

Just wanted to stop by, say hi and Welcome. So sorry that you are enduring all this pain. My husband (who also has neuropathy) has such back pain, well, they won't operate and he's gone to chiropractors and he uses a Rollator to walk around but he needs to sit down every five minutes. The doctor has advised him to lose 50 lbs because of the stress on the core but he's 64 and it's hard when one can't walk that much.

Nothing more I can add except I do wish you well and hope you get some relief soon.

Take care and again, Welcome

Melody
