Wink Titanium implants (I'm new here)

Hi all,

My daughter was born with a condition called metopic craniosynostosis, it's when a baby is born with part of their skull fused.

She had the big surgery at 10 months old, she didn't heal properly and had surgery 3 months ago, the surgeon put in titanium plates from ear to ear to fill in soft spots. She also had a PEEK implant put in over her left eye to help with bone resorption and contour her forehead.

She has been telling me that she is getting "funny" feelings in her head, the surgeon told us that she can get these strange sensations for a while. I was wondering if anyone has any information at all that they can share with me?

I trust her surgeon 100% but I keep thinking about long term effects with all this titanium in her skull.

I really hope that I joined the right support group.

Thanks in advance.

Janet

Hi Janet and welcome to NeuroTalk. I am not familiar with metopic craniosynotosis but did Google it as I'm sure you have. Here is a support forum specifically for it..http://community.babycenter.com/grou...stosis_support

I hope you find the support you are seeking.

Thanks, I help run a support group for craniosynostosis, I know all about it because my daughter had had 3 surgeries.

I'm just looking for people who have had titanium implants put in their skull, but it's hard to fine.

Default on titanium

I know for sure that the body accepts titanium. I read about it before I had my last cervical fusion. The body will fuse to it, just like it does bone. If you still feel your daughter is experiencing some trouble, call the doctor, it wouldn't hurt. I hope she will continue to heal. ginnie
