Hello,
4 months ago (two weeks before Christmas) I had an extreme depressive manic episode which led to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and a prescription of Lithium. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with clinical depression so, basically, I went misdiagnosed for 10 years. I have taken all the steps necessary to get on with my life, or more appropriately, get my life back. However, I am struggling.... very hard. I have had to quit my career and now I am finding the simplest task of brushing my teeth to be the most difficult of the day. I am here for help and guidance. Two weeks (maybe three) my meds were changed from lithium to seroquel and this has been nothing but a frustration. I am crying on the inside because I don't know how much more of this I can take. Everyone keeps telling me that it takes "awhile". Well, "awhile" for me means a couple weeks..... not a couple months! And, what if they mean a couple years? When will this get better or will it ever get better. I am desperately seeking help. Somebody, please help me. |

My son is bipolar, and from his experience, it takes a couple of years at least. Sorry. But I do not understand how you could have a manic depressive episode, as if it was one thing.

welcome to NeuroTalk sunishower
I do sympathise with what you are going through and also want to remind you that all people are so unique that it is likely hard to equate your situation exactly with someone elses but the members of our BiPolar Forum are a very caring and supportive group who will be able to share their experience and knowledge with you here is the link to our BP forum http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38

It is really nice to meet you. Reading your short description of the troubles you've been through recently really touched me. I know how desolate life can seem when you are filled with desperation and don't know what to do. I sure hope that you start getting some good results from your meds very soon, and that your inner pain subsides. There are people here who you can talk about this with, and who also understand where you are right now and how it feels to be there. I send you my best thoughts, and wish there were something more substantial I could do to make you feel better right now.
