Hi everyone,

I was googling forums for people with optic neuritis and i found this one. I really need a place where I can discuss feelings and concerns with people like myself. I would also be happy to give back to you as well.
Two months I felt something was not right with my left eye. I went to my opthomologist, neurologist and finally to a neuro opthomolgist. I was diagnosised with optic neuritis of my left eye. The color is dull. my side vision is off as well. When i turn my eye from left to right it is very blurry. I had the MRI which indicated to my Dr. that it was ON. The neurologist did prescribe oral steroids, which I heard is a no no. This condition has made me depressed, irritable and scared. I always had a fear of something happening to my vision and something has. I get up everyday hoping it improves.
I heard this can improve on its own. i am not sure if I should go on the IV steroids. Has it helped anyone? I am wondering if I decide to if it is too late.
I need encouragement as feel this will never get better.

By the way how do the Drs actually know it is optic neuritis v.s. something else.

Thank you for reading my post. I would love to get feedback!
