For 4 years I have been battleing fluid in my right ear. I have been in and out of the doctor trying to figure out what was going on. I finally had a CT scan done 3 weeks ago and got a call that night from the doctor saying I need to get in to have a MRI done. They found a lot of fluid in my middle ear only on the one side along with a cephaloceles of the petrous apex in the meckles cave. I went in yesterday and they cut into my eardrum to get some of the fluid to check for a CSF leak. I am so scared and wonder if anyone else has suffered from this same thing??

Hi. Welcome to the forum. i'm afraid I can't help you with your specific problem, but wanted to offer support. Waiting for an answer on a test can be frustrating and frightening. Especially if you think it might be something serious.
When you go back into your Dr. for your results, you might want to consider either bringing someone with you, or, if can't do that, a pad and pen. Most people forget a lot of the information they get at appointments simply because they are nervous or there is so much information and unfamiliar language that they miss a lot. Once you get home, you have more questions than what you went in with. If you have questions that you know you want to ask, write them down before going to your Dr. That way you won't forget what you wanted to ask. I hope this helps a little. Good luck to you. Hopefully the results won't be as bad as you fear. Sam |
