Default can a concussion cause death 3 weeks later

My younger brother was found unexpectedly deceased lying on his stomach in his bed 3 weeks after being beaten badly with a concussion. He complained of bad headaches all the time since that time. I live in Texas and he lived in Boston area where I am originally from. I went there to take care of things and found when I entered the apartment that there was blood on his pillows and sheets where his head would have been, could his death been caused from being beaten 3 weeks prior.
He lived alone and was an alcoholic but there were no alcohol, empty bottles, meds found in his apartment. An autopsy has been done and it takes a long time to get the results back. I am just wondering if the blows to his head might have possibly caused his death and the blood on his bed. Please help me figure this out. I wish I had been there to take care of him when it happened, I didn't find out till his death about the beating
