Default Undiagnosed quandry

My name is Rachel and I'm so glad I found this site! I wanted to thank glenntaj for your message on the get to know the welcome committee page. *I started crying because I have been feeling alone and so frustrated, and it seems like I waffle from disbelief that this is happening, to complete helplessness to know what to do. *I really appreciated your honesty and the feeling that someone else understands how crazy this experience makes you feel. *
I am 38 and have been having problems that started @ 5 months ago. *On the list of weird stuff is dizzy, unable to keep my balance, stutter, tingles and pins on left side. *Pain in left hip and shoulder. *Horrible fatigue. Nausea, ear pain, occasional sensitive to sound/smells. Etc, etc. etc. *I went to the ER when it first happened because we thought it was a stroke. *So far all my tests are normal. *I have already gotten,"it could be stress", and,"it could be all in your head", and, "I really have no idea what's wrong with you" from doctors. *It makes me really sad to see after some research that so many other people deal with this frustrating process and are waiting in the dark like I am.
Ps.they HAVE ruled out stroke, cancers, tumors, and anxiety/stress, but crazy may still be on the table.

Hi. Welcome. First of all you are not crazy. And thank god they have ruled out Stroke, cancers, tumors, etc. At least you know WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE.

Now I can't tell you what you DO have, but hopefully, someone will come along and give you more input and help you out. I really wish I could. But there are so many knowledgeable people here.
They know so much more than I.

I just wanted to say hi and welcome. My husband has Peripheral Neuropathy and such a bad case of psoriasis lately I can't begin to tell you.

People's bodies talk to them by displaying various symptoms. I just wish physicians knew how to listen!!

Take care

Melody

Hi Rachel, I firmly of the thought your body tell you when something is wrong...sometimes Doc miss thing even obvious things? Im not a expert but did you inquire about M.S ? My father had it---pain without apparent cause, muscle weakeness (atrophy), balance problems, slow limb response, sometimes speech and eye problems , headaches, depression....there are many symptoms. You should request neruro consults ---have u had a mri ? Listen to your body --your not crazy!!

Rachel --based on your symptoms

dizzy, unable to keep my balance, stutter, tingles and pins on left side. *Pain in left hip and shoulder. *Horrible fatigue. Nausea, ear pain, occasional sensitive to sound/smells. Etc

My father had same symptoms ---it took a longtime before he got diagnosed but these symptoms made me think of M.S--I remember i think he had a MRI that showed his spine fibers had these patches ...instead of being straight up and down and his I think left side was more affected --his one thigh was 6 inches smaller then the other. I remember my parents telling me when they first got married be came home from work and my mom thought he was drunk because he was dizzy and falling (never was a drinker)---at that time went to er and told him inner ear inbalance....in his 40's symptoms came back but much worse ---that when he got a proper diagnosis. Once he did get diagnosed meds helped alot to control symptoms. Again on a DR just your posted symptoms made me think of my dad right away.

Heart Neuro appt

Wow, thanks so much for the kindness and support. I know I am not crazy, but I have a goofy sense of humor which helps me cope with things. I asked one of my doctors if I could be experiencing the effects of a voodoo curse and if I could get a referral to a witch doctor. Most neurologists, I'm discovering have no sense of humor, which is a bummer.
I had an appt yesterday and he said the results of my vestibular testing show there is a deficit on one side, and I was dizzy and stuttering yesterday, so he wants me to be evaluated by an ENT, a speech therapist, and to get balance therapy. He will not order a lumbar puncture, a spine MRI, or further bloodwork because he says my brain MRI is too pristine and my symptoms are an atypical presentation that he does not think is MS and frankly doesn't think is neurological. I frankly think I need a new doctor and am going to schedule with the neurologists at the University of Utah teaching hospital. I told him I had talked to my mothers cousin, who has MS, and that she said her lesions only showed up a year after her first MRI and symptoms appeared. Anybody have any suggestions for testing I should request?
Thank you thank you for your love, support, friendship, and advice!!!

Mri of brain and spinal cord---good neuro will so a few others ...i know he also had a spinal tap but that was years ago. Hope you get the help you need --sometimes getting a proper diagnosis is difficult. I would pursue it until you get the answer. Best wishes always!!
