Default New, needing some advise

Had vascular surgery in September,2012, it was a ascending aortic dissection, I had a stent and graph put in, it was an emergency procedure from my understanding I was one of the "lucky" ones. I have high cholesterol so the doctor put me on atorvastatin 20 MG a day for that I am also on metoprolol 25 MG/day, lisinopril 10 mg/day.

After surgery I started getting migraine headaches daily, and starting having panic attacks again, these were problems I had when I was much younger, in my mid twenties, I am almost 58 now. So my doctor has me on 300 MG of wellebutan and 5 mg of xanax a day, the xanax is if needed. For a week after surgery I did have trouble remembering things that had happened recently, but that improved and went away within 3 months.

Now I can't remember what words to use in sentences, hoe to spell words, I couldn't remember how to turn my oven on to make dinner the other night, I'm constantly upset because I can't remember the simplest of things. Someone will ask me a question and 2 or 3 days later I can finally answer it, what is wrong with me? I'm pretty sure it is related to the anesthesia for my surgery, my age and the fact that I was a heavy smoker...I quit and plan on staying quit.

Hi Donna,
Just wanted to say "welcome" to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

Have you told your doctor or surgeon about these newer symptoms?

They must be very worrying for you especially having come on so suddenly.

I'm not really sure where to direct you but thought I'd leave some other links below and because you're on several different medicines, I'll post the Medications forum as well. I really don't know if they have the potential to cause any of the problems you're now having but might be worth asking. p.s. Actually, I'd definitely ask on Medications forum about your meds..

Medications & Treatments
For discussion about medications and treatments for any disease or health condition, including issues of medication toxicity.

Headache

Anxiety and OCD
  • Please contact your doctor asap if you haven't done already regarding these memory issues.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
