Default Welcome to Neurotalk--

--and I can say that it would be rather atypical for neuropathy to be worse in a resting state,

But neuropathy is such a catch-all term for problems with peripheral nerve that almost anything is possible--and it's certainly not outside the realm of believability that if you have a syndrome related to circulatory problems, for example, that exercise/movement might enhance the circulation and help mitigate symptoms. Certainly, exercise to tolerance is recommended for those neuropathy sufferers for whom it is possible, though.

Can you tell us more specifically what your test results are? My suspicion is that the medical people may have only scratched the surface as regards investigating possible causes of your symptoms--there are over 200 known causes of neuropathy (though many cases remain stubbornly idiopathic even after extensive testing). I highly recommend the Liza Jane spreadsheets--put together to be a very comprehensive listing of tests for neural symptoms, and a way to track results over time:

Hope you get some anwers. My husband has neuropathy for over 20 years. Only in his feet. Been diagnosed as Idiopathic. We think it's from his back but who the hell knows.

Anyway, keep posting and I hope you are having a not too hard a pain day. That's what I call them.

Default My NP?

I have had ct scans and blood tests and it was after the nerve ending tests I was told I had neuropathy. When I asked what it meant the Nuerologist said I had a weakening of the nerve endings to my legs. He gave me Baclofen 10mg a 1/2 night and morning and see him in 3 months. 5 days later after taking the pills I experienced a funny sensation in my head and felt as though I was going to collapse. It frightened me, so that night I missed a dose and next day took half in the morning and then stopped them altogether. 2 days later when I was getting ready for bed I had a conscious collapse. I collapsed to the floor with no warning. I never lost consciousness my legs just gave way and when I was on the floor they were just flopping from side to side. I was unable to get up so the ambulance was called and I spent 2 nights in hospital. When they got me up about 3/4 hr later was able fortunately to stand.
My cardiologist feels it was the tabs and since leaving them off I haven't experienced any further probs that way.
I have slight numbness in my big toe on my left foot, and 3 toes on my right.
I have burning feeling in both legs to my knees and when I stand my hips ache and at times my back. I fell in the street many years ago and suffer from a bad back from time to time.
I first became wobbly in April May last year and had to stop dancing and I seem to have gone down hill since. In September I started exercising at a mini gym doing back exercises and pushing a platform which had weights attached for my legs. However, afer the workout I would be struggling around with my walking and it would take me 3 days to get over it. I stuck at it thinking any exercise must be helping. Now I wonder. Of a morning when I wake up or through the night I feel all of a shiver and shake
My GP has just given me some anti depressants which I have commenced today. About 18 months ago I had a domestic upset and in the middle of it all found at one stage when I went to dance my legs felt all funny, but then after a short time they came right. I gave up the gym about 4 weeks ago and since seem to be getting slightly stronger in truning over in bed and getting out. I am doing leg exercises I found on the net and now walk at times with a walker to help me walk properly. I don't rely on the walker and only use it at times to help me walk properly. During all this time not 1 Doctor has looked in my ears.
I cannot help but wonder if all this has been brought on by stress.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.
