Unhappy New here... Is anybody out there?

Hello, my name is Jennifer, but everyone calls me Jen. Right now, that's about all I know.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia several years ago. Things seem to be changing and getting so much worse. My mother has MS and my sister's doc wants her to get checked because of things gong on. She also said I should get checked out. It's been mentioned before and I know sometimes they misdiagnose FM and MS. I'm scared. I'm mad at my body!! I feel so lost and alone.

Jen

Hi Jen welcome to Neuro talk. I know it is hard to get the correct diagnosis sometimes it takes years, start a journal of of your feeling so when you go into your Dr you will know exactly what to tell him/her how you feel and where and what was happening. I hope this helps.

Hi Jen,
I am new here too, but I'm happy to give support, advice, or even just listen. Whatever helps...
I have Fibromyalgia too, in addition to Arnold Chiari, Multiple Sclerosis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Degenerative Disc Disease, Cervical Spondylosis, and a few other awful things that cause severe chronic pain. I know, it sounds unbelievable to have so many things at once, yet here I am.

I know that this is a scary and frustrating time while you are waiting for an accurate diagnosis, so being involved in a support group will hopefully help you manage through these difficult times. You are not alone, I have met many people in this support group as well as another for people with chronic pain, and we are here to encourage, listen, and support others.

Do you have a pain management doctor to help you manage your increasing pain? There are a lot of treatment options that can help with your pain, but it is important to have a knowledgeable and caring PM doctor to help you make the best decisions to treat your pain. If you feel that your symptoms go beyond that of FM I would encourage you to ask your doctor to set up and MRI to look for MS.

I wish you well and hope you find the answers you are looking for.

Blessed Be,
ChiariGirl84

Hi Jen:

I'm new here too and I understand your frustration. I'm 32 and have several different diagnosis' to my name. Started with fibro and CFS because I really don't think my doctor knew what to diagnose me with. Moved from up north to Hawaii for my exhusbands military career. Seemed to get better until about 2010 when I had my gallbladder removed. Then things went downhill from there.

At the start of 2011, I slept for hours a day. There were days I just slept for the whole day. My ex took to me to every specialist known to man. Nothing was ever diagnosed. I only worked part time but my family fell apart. Late 2011 I was hospitalized for 17 days for a kidney infection. Finally saw a doctor who seemed intelligent. Did the full work up for MS. At the time, I didn't meet the criteria so went to 1 pain management doctor who just drugged me. Fired him, seeing an interventional pain management doctor now. Working on a dx of MS again. Still a lot of neuropathy and it sucks ...I've got my days that are better then others but most days, I lay low unable to move.

I know what your going thru...if you need to talk, pm me sweety...
