Hi All, Three weeks ago I developed kyphosis, a curvature of the spine. I have 2 lumbar compression fractures and three thoracic fractures. My bones become very weak when I was given high doses of prednisone to combat a very bad case of skin graft vs. host (I had a bone marrow transplant in September for myelofibrosis). I am having a very hard time adjusting to my hunched back. I am not that old and was active (hiking, etc.) before this. Is there anyone else who has kyphosis and is there any hope of ever having it corrected or at least getting better? Thanks much........

Hi Darlene - Thank you for the nice welcome and the information. I'm not the most tech savvy person so it will take me a while to get used to how this all works! It is a relief to find this supportive group of people who understand what it is like to be going through various medical conditions.....Best, Karene

Hi karene ~ I have a compression fracture in the thoracic area too, and it has caused some hunching in my back. It's quite painful to be honest. Plus I have loads of lumbar problems besides.
I usually hang out in the Spinal Disorders forum. To be honest, I don't think there's much that can be done for the Kyphosis, but I'm not positive. I know it would include basically re-breaking of the back, and undoubtedly putting in rods & screws. Doesn't sound very pleasant to me. ![]() I wish you the very best! God bless & please take care. Hugs, Lee

[Welcome to Neuro Talk. I did look up your condition. I am very sorry this happened to you. I didn't have the same condition, but I did reverse the curve of my spine do to my occuptaion. Two fussions later I am sound and doing OK. Leesa is the best about for MRI findings. I sure hope that you can get some relief and help with your condition. These days doctors can do a great deal of good. I also hope you get several referrals and opinions. There may be others on the spinal forum that have your same condition as well. I do wish you all the best. ginnie
