Default Pcs

Hey all! My name is Eva. I have well a lot of concussions: 4 on record but probably around 10 or so. Two from soccer and the rest from just being a kid. I go to multiple doctors and I went to physical therapy for about6 months.
My headache and balance are so much better than they were two years ago when i received second impact syndrome. I have done cheerleading and track since the "no contact sports till you're recovered and then wait another year" order from all of my neurologists.

I realize I have a whole lot of potential( not bragging but I am very smart) but being without soccer is slowly killing me. I miss my team( I played travel and none of the girls go to school with me) i have been out of shape since my "4th" concussion. Mom has been such an amazing person for me throughout this awful time. Recently, her boyfriend cheated on her after my dad did back in 2006. It's been a rough time for all of us plus my head problems don't make anything better.
Like I said I am dying on the inside without my one true love, soccer, while trying to stay strong for Mama. So I need your opines on whether or not I should play soccer again when the time is right. Thanks eva cate
(not trying to be a pity party, just sharing my story)

Hey Eva cate.my son plays soccer and has a few knocks as well. He still plays but he has been cleared by his Dr. You have your whole life to look forward to and there will be many many loves that come along the way not just soccer. They are serious and get more so with each one so you and your dr just have to weigh it out for yourself. As far as your mom things will better I can guarantee you that she is more worried about you than anything else. That's what moms do

Welcome to Neuro Talk Eva cate!! From your post I can feel you are a very amazing person. You love you Mom so much and you both have been through a lot. I to went through a divorce and like you my kids took good care of my heart. I think that when that time comes when your able to play the game you love so much that you and Mom will do what you both feel should be. My daughter played basketball and volleyball and attending her games were the light of my day!!!
I have posted a link for PCS...hope you can find answers and great friends.

Default Welcome

Hello Eva,

NeuroTalk is a good place.

There is a forum just for people like you who have PCS -- in the mild traumatic brain injury part here. You can post questions there too and get some answers.

You said you've had at least 4 concussions? Goodness, that's a lot, and you only have one brain.

Like another poster said, you will find other loves in life too. My son and daughter both played soccer, but my son is in college now and has found Ballroom Dance to be a great sport for him. My daughter will be a senior, but she's going to explore more dance in the fall rather than soccer.

Is there a different sport you could try that has less chance of head trauma? Have you ever tried dance? How about power walking?

I am getting better from my PCS, but I feel I will have to be more careful with myself -- forever.

Anyhow, welcome here and take care.

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013.

Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines,

Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something.

Therapy I had: vestibular

3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling.

9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms.
I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery.

Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired.
