I am currently on Lyrica for pain. In the recent past I decided to stop taking it. No specific reason, just did. Wow. Big mistake. I immediately recognized that I was experiencing withdraw. In the beginning it was identical to opiate withdraw and at the time i had been taking opiates on and off, so I thought that was why I was going through withdraw. Except taking an opiate didn't really take the withdraw away completely. I began to wonder , could this really be coming from my stopping the Lyrica?! So, of course I googled lyrics withdraw. To my surprise a slew of threads popped up. Wow. I never expected that. Well...this was thee worst sickness and withdrawal i have ever went through. It lasted two weeks but that's only because I had my script of lyricas filled , and of course i was just fine once i started taking them. I am so scared to go off them. The lack of energy was the worst. I have a daughter, almost one, and i cannot afford to be down n out like that. I'm a stay home mom. Does anyone have any withdraw advice for me.Like, what are some natural him remedies for treating this. Least with opiate withdraw it gets progressively better each day. Lyrica is like never ending....it didn't get any better for me after two weeks. Its thee most awful feeling i have ever experienced ,physically!!! Please help!!

Hello Lanae and WELCOME to NeuroTalk!
I can not recommend how to safely stop any medications. I strongly urge you to talk with your physician about stopping the Lyrica. He/She needs to know that you want to stop or that you are stopping this medicine... you may need to be monitored. I see that Jo has given you a great link that may offer some assistance in this matter. ![]() I wish you the best. ![]() Abbie

Goodness me .. I do feel for you. I wasn't on Lyrica long enough to have withdrawal when I came off them, but I did go through terrible opiate withdrawal from Oxycontin/Oxynorm .. and I really do feel for you.
If you're feeling down, there's always, always someone about on here to talk to, so please don't feel alone. You need all the support you can. x |

I too went through horrible withdrawal from Lyrica. It was worse than the opiate withdrawal I experienced. I tried Lyrica due to it being a non narcotic, big mistake. Side effects were bad enough, which is why I chose to stop.
I had complete agitation, sweating, hot/cold spells, insomnia, muscle spasms all over, it was horrible. Thankfully though it only lasted 4-5 days, and all this from only 100mg a day. My wife could not believe what I was going through, after many years on powerful opiates due to back to back surgeries, the withdrawal from those was a walk in the park in comparison. I wish the side effects and subsequent withdraw symptoms were explained in the beginning, I may have decided otherwise. Today med free, thanks to a Medtronic spinal cord stimulator back in 2008. Hope this helps someone. |
