Default new & need info

Hi ..this is my first time ever reaching out or talking to anybody about my situation. Recently diagnosed with failed back surgery syndrome after having a lumbar discectomy 2 years ago. My doctor is offering me a fusion surgery or I could do the spinal rod stimulation surgery. Don't know much about either.anyone have any info? I would appreciate any opinions or knowledge anyone has to offer. Thanks

Hello ~ Do you mean Spinal CORD stimulator?? I've had one of those, and they can work very well. I had one implanted for 6 months, but due to other problems, it had to come out.

Please visit the Spinal Disorders forum, and ask questions there. Do NOT undergo fusion until you've done some research, and asked ALOT of questions! Surgery is NOT always the answer for pain. In fact after surgery most of the time you're left with the same pain or worse that you had before surgery. Surgery is ONLY for mechanical problems.

So make sure you do your "homework" and research and ask questions. It's very important you know what to expect and what the odds are for a successful outcome. I wish you the very best. God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee
