I used to post quite a bit on this site some time ago and eventually had some improvement in my symptoms, which seem to be flaring up badly again.
I felt like I was doing better until the implantation of a pacemaker in 2012. Having been maintained on low dose Prednisone, prior to the pacemaker, I had been able to nearly discontinue the steroids. Afterwards, I was unable to ever return to the previous low dose. More recently, because of the long term Prednisone, I developed Osteoporosis and was put on a 4 week trial of Atelvia. It is pretty apparent that my body does not like foreign material and various medications and it sure did not like that one. Week one resulted in really severe diarrhea. Week 2 resulted in pain. Weeks 3 and 4 resulted in overwhelming pain all over. My Rheumatologist questions the Sjogren's diagnosis and says that a number of people are misdiagnosed with this, when they actually have inflammatory polyneuropathy. Of course, it's never a good thing when people develop "new" problems. Do visit all your old cohorts at the neuropathy forum--we can discuss why your rheumatologist is questioning the Sjogren's diagnosis and ways that Sjogren's neuropathy or neuronopathy may be distinguishable from other kinds of inflammatory neuorpathy (definitely a tough diagnostic challenge, as so many inflammatory neuropathies are fundamentally autoimmune). |
