Chat New member - same tiring story!

Hi (:

Been dealing with seizures, migraines, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and various other symptoms for years. The seizures being on the newer side of the spectrum, migraines and depression being the middle man, and coordination/ADHD/learning difficulties/anxiety being since I can remember!

I have spent most of my life in a Psychiatrists chair; rather than a Neurologists office (or rather a developmental psychiatrists office) like I should have.

Since then... I have been battling the system, individual doctors, and even myself, on whether most of my problems stem psychologically or neurologically. Especially with EEGs, V-EEGs, and MRIs that run clear! However I still do benefit greatly from AEDs and a neurological approach, rather than psychiatric medication and therapy (although they can help).

Just here to extend my knowledge, and get information and support! I also hope to help other people while I am here (: I love to share advice and hope!

Wink Hello & Welcome!!

Sweet Pea,

It is great to have you come and be with us. You will fine a great number of dear friends to listen when you are in need of ears. Please let us know how we can help you out. You will find out we are supportive and relaxing place.

I too have epilepsy, ever since I was 10, lucky I am under control at this time. Here are somethings I would like you to check out. My advice to you is have your Dr. refer you to see a Epileptologist (Dr. specializing in Epilepsy) and go to a Epilepsy Center. These places are found at large hospitals or university hospitals. These Drs. will do a series of tests on you and this will help the them fine exactly what's going on with your situtation. One other thing to do is taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. once a day. Afford being around strong flashing lights like at theater, you could wear sunglasses or turn your head and shut your eyes during flashing back grounds. Come on to the epilepsy forum, there are some great friends to answer questions for you.

Please keep us up to date on your condition. Again welcome, looking forward to seeing you around. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Darlene

hi (:

Darlene...

I am not diagnosed with epilepsy, they are even unsure to diagnose my seizures as epileptic.

I did see a Epileptologist for for the VEEG, but unfortunately did not have any events during my 5 day stay. Also my sleep deprived EEG, and 24 HR EEG has all came back normal (and no events during).

I now am at step 1.

Thank you both for the welcome. And Lara for the links (:
