Default Thoracic disc bulge impingement??

Hi, I've had chronic pain in my shoulder for 2 years, it goes into my neck and down into my arm. At times it's just cagey but often the pain is very intense and I fell like I'm slowly becoming disabled by it. I some times get a numb little toe on the same side and have started to use the toilet twice in the night..

I've been to Physio and have a referral to a shoulder specialist but I've recently had an MRI and am thinking maybe the problem is my back and not my shoulder?? Or both?

MRI shows bulging disc at t4 which could just impinge on the anterior tharacic cord. Could this be the cause of the shoulder pain? My GP says that's my back and won't affect my shoulder and said see the shoulder specialist and show him the report?? Should I not be seeing a spine specialist???

I just want to be free of pain

Thanks for reading, sally

Default A thoracic disc bulge--

--would be unlikely to result in arm/shoulder/neck symptoms, as the nerve roots that lead to the major nerves in those areas are in the cervical spine area.

The numb toe also implies that there's something else going on, although that may be completely unrelated to the shoulder/neck/arm pain.

It does sound as if you need a further work-up--was your MRI inclusive of the neck area (cervical spine)?
